rotary lobe blower comparison
Resolve rotary lobe blower comparison questions before selecting a supplier. Conventional rotary-lobe technology and screw-hybrid alternatives use different internal compression stories; mixing their catalog maxima on one spreadsheet is not a comparison. This dossier is about acceptance basis: what inlet condition, discharge psi, turndown range and package accessories must sit on both quotes. Rotary lobe blower technology notes on public OEM pages are reference layouts, not a promise from Rotary Lobe Blower Sourcing. We remain an independent sourcing partner and are not a brand-appointed reseller.
Decision dossier
Acceptance basis
- Acceptance basis: Upstream
- Both bidders receive the same gas, inlet temperature, inlet pressure or altitude, CFM at that inlet, discharge psi, duty cycle and turndown method. If one quote uses free-air CFM and the other uses process inlet, they are not comparable. A representative sample of the gas or conveyed feedstock, described in text, belongs in the brief. Work envelope and footprint of an acoustic enclosure must be stated if the room is tight.
- Control boundary
- Mark whether the conventional lobe package includes silencers, relief devices, inlet filter, flexible connections, motor, VFD or other drive controls, and an enclosure. PLC interface, process piping and cooling water if anyone proposes it sit outside unless named. Connected load in kW and three-phase supply frequency in Hz must be restated at the duty. Rotary lobe blower technology that uses internal compression (screw-hybrid) should be labeled as a different family if the buyer asked only for lobe machines.
- Downstream
- Acceptance should measure agreed flow and pressure with a stated measurement basis. If noise is part of the decision, agree location and operating condition. Compare maintenance and energy using the same duty profile rather than borrowing an unrelated technology’s savings percentage. FAT and SAT sheets, spare parts lists and training hours remain supplier and owner documents. See the acoustic and service boundary article.
| Axis | Lobe package question | Open until quoted |
|---|---|---|
| Output basis | CFM at named inlet versus a table maximum. | Instrumentation for FAT. |
| Working pressure | Discharge psi including silencers and piping. | Relief set point. |
| Installed cost | Machine, delivery, site, spare parts as separate rows. | Incoterms and SAT hours. |
